How to Remove Password from PDF Files Online: Unlock Permissions

If you receive an encrypted monthly bank statement, payslip, or legal contract and know the authorized password, typing that same passphrase every single time you open, view, or print the document quickly becomes frustrating. Permanently removing the password from files you own streamlines your daily workflow.

Owner Passwords vs. User Open Passwords

PDF documents employ two distinct layers of cryptographic protection:

• User Open Password: Requires you to enter a passphrase before the document renders on screen.
• Owner / Permissions Password: Allows reading the file but blocks printing, text copying, page extraction, or form annotations.

Step-by-Step: How to Unlock a PDF on ADF PDF

2. Upload your password-protected document into the workspace.
3. If prompted, provide the authorized password once to confirm decryption rights.
4. Click Unlock PDF to strip the encryption dictionary and permission flags.
5. Download your decrypted PDF. It will now open immediately on any device without password prompts.

Next Steps for Decrypted Documents
